JOKES AND NOTES COMEDY CLUB CELEBRATES 5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY
Chicago’s Favorite Comedians Give Hilarious Special Performance Jokes & Notes Comedy Club located at 4641 S. Martin Luther King Drive in Chicago is celebrating 5 years of success and will celebrate with a weekend of special events Thursday, April 28, 2011. Jokes and Notes has had tremendous success since opening January 2006. Owner and visionary Mary Lindsey designed Jokes & Notes to become an outlet for comedians to showcase their talents and a place where people can come and laugh to local and top name national acts. Located in the heart of the Bronzeville District steps away from the monumental site of the Harold Washington Cultural Center. On Thursday, April 28th with two special performances at 8:30pm and 10:30pm, Jokes and Notes will host Chicago’s best urban comedians in a hilarious one-time showcase. Audiences will laugh to the jokes of national radio host and comedian George Wiillborn, national comic and host Damon Williams, WGCI’s radio hosts Tony Sculfield and Leon Rogers, other comedians include Lil’ Rel, Jay Deep, Baldhead Phillips and Marlon Mitchell. The special event is free admission first come first serve until all seats are filled. Jokes & Notes, the premier club is one of 3 African American clubs in the country and minority owned by a woman, has had continued success despite downward fall of many businesses on the block that the club is located. Jokes and Notes has had a steady flow of local and national acts that have graced the stage and captivated the ever growing audience each weekend. Comedians such as Mo'Nique, Adele Givens, Michael Colyar & Bill Bellamy just to name a few.
